New: Your photo as page theme.

A few months ago, we added a Customize Colors feature to My Yahoo! that allows you to start with one of the built-in themes and make it your own by choosing colors for different parts of your page. We received a lot of great feedback on this feature, including many requests to be able to use your own images. I’m excited to announce that this week we’ve enhanced the feature to let you do just that!

To reflect its broader capabilities, we’ve renamed the feature Customize Theme. You can find it by clicking the Change Appearance button at the top of your My Yahoo! page.

Just click on the background area for either the top of the page (what we call the Page Header) or the background of the main part of the page (what we call the Page Background). In either case, you’ll see that you now have a choice of an image or a color for the background. We’ve set things up so you can either upload an image from your hard drive or pull in an image from your Flickr account, if you have one.

A couple of tips for the page header area:
• An image that isn’t too busy works best.
• The ideal image is about 150 pixels high, so you’ll be able to see most of it (a larger image will be cropped).

Please check out our detailed Tutorial and Online Help on Customizing Colors and Backgrounds to guide you through using this new feature. Please let us know what you think.

Excellent. I used to use the Mars landscape background before the huge change in myYahoo. I left it convert to the current myYahoo scheme, but was left with a white title header. Now I can fix that! Thank you!

One small thing. Now that the header color matches the rest of the page, I notice a skinny white line between header and body. This is similar to the still white 3d affect on the “Personal Assistant” buttons. I haven’t tried to recreate the original Mars theme from scratch, but figured I’d let you folks know what I see.

Thanks again for the changes!
Keep up the good work!

Wouldn’t it be really convenient and just plain nice to be able to have my 360 page as one of the “new page” tabs on My Yahoo? Yeah, I’d like that. I’d probably use my 360 blog more.

Just a quick question, what is the easiest way to make my yahoo the home page on my comp. I noticed when I first started using yahoo a few months ago that the option to set my yahoo as my homepage was in the top corner, just one click and that was it, I don’t see that optioin anymore, along that same note I am trying to change my current default city for my weather report from Boise, Id. to Peyton, Co. I have recently moved and cannot remember how to get into my account information to change my personal info. Any help? Thank you in advance.

There was a comment up there about not working with the home AT&T page…Mine did that at first but after right-click “renaming” the photo I was selecting to put in as my background, they work. I saw if the photo you want is named “838ajdjfui” or just some number it wasn’t working. Try renaming photos if AT&T Myyahoo page is having trouble.

When I go to Change Appearance, Customize Theme, I do not get an option to change the background to an image, only to change it to a color. Why don’t I have the option to change my background to an image?

I like having my Yahoo page. The page came as a surprise to me because I did not know what I was doing and then the page was suddenly there. I like the page , just the way it is designed and read all of the articles. Alice D-Baltimore, Md.

Does anyone know the ideal pixel height and width for the pictures? I can’t get my picture to look right on my page. It either cuts some off or starts tiling it because it’s not big enough. What’s the right pixel width?

Im not sure why, but, for At&t Yahoo, this is not an option. When you select background the only option is color. You dont have an option to click on image. Is this going to become available to us as well? It seems several people have asked this question but I dont see any responses.
