Going away for summer?

Some people live for the reading and research involved in planning a great vacation. By the time I realize I need a vacation, I just want to go.

Where should I go, when should I go, what should I take… it all seems, well, a little overwhelming. So with two ideas in mind (and June 1st right around the corner) I decided to use My Yahoo! to help me plan.

One possibility is a road trip up the California coast into Oregon. The other is to finally cave in to friends who have insisted that cruising is the way to go. So to make life easier for myself, I added a new page to My Yahoo! with a 3 column layout: #1 for the road trip feeds, #2 for the cruise feeds and #3 for general trip feeds.

Haven’t planned your vacation yet? Try out these great travel modules (below) and build your own excursion page. Oh, and if you know of any can’t miss roadside eats, please feel free to let me know in the comments.

For anybody vacationing in Maine who wanders away from the coast a little (which one should do), Big G’s deli in Winslow, Maine is a great place for unique and huge sandwiches. Winslow is right next to Waterville, which has two I-95 exits. It’s worth checking out.

If your going on a trip I tell you one thing.
Drive something with good gas milage and if you are in a town with a few gas stations look around town for the best price unless you can’t make it.

FYI, the trip up the CA coast to Oregon is beautiful.
Be prepared, however, for two-lane winding roads that are filled with vacationers. Incredible views though make it worth every minute.
Brookings, OR is right across the state lane and is a wonderfully friendly town.
    Enjoy!

Can you please explain to me what the difference is between the 4-column layout that has the two outer columns in gray (on the layout thumbnails when choosing the layout) and the other 4-column layout that has only the right-column in gray. I can’t figure out the difference.

I have traveled the entire coast line from Mexico to Canada. This would be a wonderful trip for anyone who has the time. Make a point to spend extra time in Napa and with the Giant Redwoods.

Scott K, great question about the 4 column layouts!

The 4-column layout that shows the right-hand column “grayed-out” means that the furthest column to the right will be the smallest (square shaped) modules, while the other 3 are wider.

The 4-column layout that shows both the right-hand column and left-hand column “grayed-out” means that both outside columns will be small (square) modules, while the middle 2 columns are wider.

    Hope this clarifies the difference.
