Hi everyone,
We’ve been making some changes here on the Blog, specifically to better organize old posts with the “Archives.” We have 77 posts since dating back to when we created the My Yahoo! Blog in April of 2007. We think the Blog features great tips for getting the most out of your page, and we want to make finding them as simple and easy as possible. That’s where you come in…
We need your ideas to help us make the “Archives” easier to search through so you can find posts from the past!
If you could be the designer for the My Yahoo! Blog, what would the “Archives” section look like? How would people find older posts? Should it be categorized by date or by the type of post (new modules, features, themes)? Post your ideas as comments to this blog post.

We recently added an expanding feature to the “Archives” section. When you click on a particular month, the posts from that month will drop down so you can navigate back instead of flipping through multiple pages. But we want to make it even better, show us what you’ve got!

I think the blog entries should be sorted by date, just to make things easier.
I think if you made the archives by type of post, it would be easier to find old posts, especially the helpful ones.
You could also try and use tags, so that someone just uses the tags to find the posts that may be of assistance.
but I guess that would mean having to go back to all your posts and labeling them. though I think that would help out.
Theme, theme, theme. If I am wanting to find something, how much easier can it be than to name the Archives by theme. Date, when it was introduced is not important.
I would like to have a “Compose” (email) option under “My Assistant”
Type of post would work best for me. If I have a question on themes I can just go there. It is quick and easy to find the specific item. Dates would be to murky.
I think – themes – features – date, broken down in that order would be the most intuitive and convienient.
Thank you for your column.
i would really like it, if i can read my mails with out the pop up to another page when i click on my mail preview, i wanna chat , read and reply mail all in one page on cm.myyahoo page. yeah and one other thing, be able to view all my new mails not just maximum of twenty mails at once, but u can add a scroll bar or somthing so i can browse through which i wanna read
I would like the ad module made smaller.
Hello there! ^_^
I was wondering if it would be possible to put a sort of module or page or something on your My Yahoo! that directs you to your blog. Or that you can blog and stuff on your own page with your friends and stuff. Anyways! Thanks for trying to improve this site! You guys are doing a fantastic job! ^_______^

What about categorizing the posts? For example, you could have helpful hints, new modules, awesome themes, heroic personal stories from the my yahoo team, etc.
Good luck!
More themes and backgrounds. Most are too plain.
first off the already done stuff is cool.
Archive as dates makes sense but lets see about it in the future, if change is required.
also
1 colour code with max 2-3 colours, the kinda of post (product info, feature update, problem resolutions) with time users will identify types of post faster/better. If you can connect same colour post users would then be able to do a complete read of the archive related to let says, My Yahoo updates. Instead even custom smiley’s can be used showing fun/general info, advice, updates.
2 Highlight topics with varying fonts based on popularity and those having unique/important My Yahoo keywords in the title or even post.
3 when the list gets big and their are many months then maybe you could even show a popup with important keywords/tags from the posts inside the month.
Will you have a big list of months as time goes by, cant a calender feature be considered.
Also yahoo should think about letting people monetize on maintaining digital data/archives and content. Nowdays anything 12 hours old is considered archive, so plz….
I like the header designs on your new themes, but the body of the webpage is too. . . . words fail me. I like the forest theme for example, but the background body of the webpage is like pea soup with too much contrast for the black and white text boxes. Couldn’t you make it so that the body of the webpage could be chosen separate from the top or have something that is a little more visually friendly with less eye strain. Another one is the beach theme, but all the boxes in the body of the webpage are a brown gravy color-not my idea of a day at the beach.
It would be nice to be able to have the same preferences available on the Messenger module as we do using Yahoo Messenger. Two that I can think of right are, ability to only show friends that are available, and sign in on start up of page. Until this happens, I wont be using the new page format, unless forced too. Then if its still not I may not go to my Yahoo page at all, just straight to my mail, & continue using the messenger program.
Please advise when this is resolved!
hi! i’m emilee hamrick, i’m just sugesting that you post things about new york times best sellers such as the twilight series by stepheni meyer, j.k.rowling etc, also you could put those in moudle form or something.
I just wanted to say that I would like to be able to drop in my own backgrounds,i have hunreds of photos that can be used most of which out-gun digital photos for the most part in quality, also I would like very much to be able to personalize messenger like we used to do a few years ago ,with backgrounds in the messenger box.
I think that there are much more important things to do on the ‘new’ My Yahoo to replace lost functionality/modules from when we converted. Most if us did so because we were forced to by TV Listings.
‘Team calendars’, re-ordering pages on my yahoo, adding Yahoo Personals to ‘message center’/Pesonal Assistant, etc.. There are dozens of suggestions on content that are far more important on organizing blog entries or color themes.
Definetely by topic, or even title. I’ll remember titles and peoples’ names before dates; but dates can be helpful, especially with multiple entries.
Their is a search box at the top but a Ypipe search box can be put next to the Archive and if themes is entered all below months can show only themes post but that or putting a list box would mean going the apps way but Archive is a section on this blog page.
More themes and backgrounds. I miss sharing photos please can you make a way for us to impliment our photos from flickr into the blogs and groups?
More themes and backgrounds.
Hi Adam,
I’ve owned and managed Health groups on Yahoo for 9 or so years and found the grid (cell) format for message archives to be very compact and quickly accessible.
It may be possible to arrange the archive of blogs by date (row) and category (column)???
[My2Bits]
Probably alot more themes and backgrounds. Also maby for st.pattys day the background for yahoo could be green
My2bits has the right idea to my thinking as the answer to your query…date and theme….and a matrix!
When the archive gets big:
Months can be presented as tiny blog posts with hyperlinks of keywords, tags, topics and titles.
This is probably not the proper place to post, but I just wanted to say Thank you to Yahoo Personals, for sending me a note to remind me that unless I cancelled, my subscription would be automatically renewed. I tried out Match.com at around the same time as Yahoo personals. Match.com does not send out reminders; it simply deducts from the credit card with no warning on the expiry date, and what’s more, it refuses to refund, even when contacted on the day the credit card is charged. This practice is highly unethical and preys on lonely people trying to connect. So beware!
I think the Topic or Type of Post would be easier for others to find. I mean, how is the date going to tell you or anyone else what’s in the post?
Archive could also be put to use by having MyYahoo classic pages.
Ex: come to archive and click on March 07 and a page is displayed with archive posts, design and modules from that time.
by date that’s easiest
I think filing by date makes it easier for everyone!
Please please arrange is to that when I want to
see email by date or email by number, I can bring up this information without having to go back page by page. (or is there such a way to do this that I don’t know)
Thank you.
omg!
wel,if listed by date it will be easier to locate the important ones……..,
If you sort by date thats the easiest way. DUH!
Knowing me, dates wouldn’t tell me much and I probably would pass it, Maybe a date and title like a file cabinet? To silly? just an idea, see ya.
YeS; O’mg? Ha! MO2(:)
I’m not sure if it’s been suggested already, but you could try sorting them by date first and then within that by theme, or vice versa. Sometimes dates are hard to remember and general ideas may be easier for people to recall. Hope it helps.
Dana
sort it by type of post and date the older ones of each kind can be found towards the bottom and the newer ones closer to the top
i suggest sortting it by;
GENERAL CATEGORIES ( in BOLD & Capital Letters )
EACH CATEGORY ( includes the total numbers of blgs )
Exact date & time is not tht important in Archive but background is. Keep it simple and tidy but interesting.
Maybe some more backgrounds or maybe webkinz for our avatars. It whould be AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it would be cool if we had more designs for our pages and could play music on our homepage
