Made in Mexico.

When the My Yahoo! Team returns from Mexico this evening, don’t expect us to bring you back inlaid silver, bright serapes, or well-aged tequila. But we will be bringing you something even more useful (and much more personal): A better My Yahoo!.

You see, “Mexico” is the name of a conference room that the team has unapologetically taken over. (Here on our Yahoo! campus, each floor of each building has its own conference room “theme” — and around here it’s country names.)

Sure, we all have our cubes to hide away in when we need to focus on tasks, think without interruption, and make personal phone calls. But Mexico is where we all meet when the real action needs to happen. It’s a fun, festive atmosphere where brainstorming begins and where tough decisions are made. Not to mention most things in-between. It’s also where a lot of food is consumed and a few poker games are played.

So next time you see something new and exciting released in My Yahoo!, be sure to remember that it was made in Mexico.

  2. ¿Hecho en México?

As someone who practices Internet law, I find that amusing…and anecdotal evidence that borders blur in cyberspace regardless of brick and mortar boundaries in the “real” world.
